80 percent work on first bridge of Madaveli-Hoadedhdhoo Causeway completed
Under the GDh. Madaveli and GDh. Hoadedhdhoo Causeway project, 80 percent of the work on the first 60-meter bridge has been completed.
The foundation work for the bridge under the project to connect Madaveli and Hoadedhdhoo by a causeway began on March 26, 2023.
The project contractor, MTCC, said yesterday that work on the approach road and revetment is currently underway at the site.
The project, worth a total of MVR 79.4 million, was awarded to MTCC on October 26, 2022. The project is scheduled to be completed within 300 days. MTCC began the actual work on the project in September of last year.
Works planned to be carried out under the project:
- Installation of 285 span piles
- Laying tar on an area of 4,596 square meters
- Construction of pavement in an area of 1,378 square meters
- Coastal protection for an area of 260 meters
- Carrying out 2,544 cubic meters of segment concrete work
- Construction of sub-base, laying of tar, installation of railings, street lights, and road signs on a 3,144 square meter area of the approach road
