Three companies have been contracted to construct police stations in eight islands. The project has been awarded to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Fenaka Corporation, and Road Development Corporation (RDC).
The agreements were signed on 13 May at a ceremony held at Iskandar Building. Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau signed on behalf of the Maldives Police Service, while representatives from the three companies signed the agreements on their behalf. MTCC will be responsible for building police stations in six islands, while Fenaka and RDC will each construct one station.
This initiative is part of a larger effort to enhance policing infrastructure across the country. Alongside previous agreements, a total of 83 police stations are planned for development, with MTCC handling 21 islands, RDC managing 21, and Fenaka overseeing 41.
The police stated that these new buildings will cater to both regional and atoll-level policing needs. The project includes establishing police stations in rural areas, as well as developing police posts and accommodation blocks for officers. These efforts aim to strengthen law enforcement and improve security services in various parts of the Maldives.
