It has revealed the government plans to launch 299 new projects, as part of its Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP).
A total of MVR 12.4 billion has been allocated for PSIP projects in the upcoming budget, though details of all projects have not been disclosed, raising concerns among members of parliament.
According to details shared with the Parliament by the Auditor General’s Office, the budget includes funding for 695 projects next year, comprising 396 ongoing projects and 299 new initiatives.

Land Reclamation and Road Projects: MVR 644 million
Airport Construction: MVR 1.3 billion
Thilamalé Bridge: MVR 1.4 billion
Velana International Airport Terminal Expansion: MVR 993 million
Renewable Energy Projects: MVR 523 million
In education, MVR 419 million is allocated for a university school, and MVR 80 million for the new Arabiyya School. Meanwhile, MVR 902 million is earmarked for health infrastructure, including MVR 62 million for cancer hospital projects.
