Ambassadors from eight different countries presented their etters of Credence to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held this morning at the President's Office.
The Ambassadors of the Slovak Republic, Ireland, Chile, Oman, Finland, Peru, Laos and Cambodia presented their credentials to President Muizzu.

The President's Office revealed that the Ambassadors were escorted to the President's Office from the Republic Square in a cultural procession, "Haiykolhu", with the Maldivian National Defence Force (MNDF) Drum and Trumpet Band.
All those who presented their credentials were "non-resident ambassadors". All but Oman's ambassador Ahmed Ali will be based in New Delhi. The Omani Ambassador will be in Sri Lanka.
Maldives and the Slovak Republic established political relations on 1 January 1993. Political relations with Ireland were established on 07 December 1999. Political relations with Chile were established on 01 May 1987 while political relations with Oman were established on February 20, 1981.
In addition, political relations between Maldives and Finland were established on October 01, 1984. The Lao People's Democratic Party (LPDP) established political relations on February 10, 2012. Political relations with Peru were established on February 06 1989 while Maldives and Cambodia established political relations on 21 September 1995.
