Male' City Council decides to allot land to Islamic Ministry to store religious books

Male' City Council has decided to allot land from Male' to the Ministry of Islamic Affairs to construct a place to store religious books brought from outside the Maldives.

Mayor Adam Azim said at a Council meeting held on Thursday that the Ministry had requested the Council for a warehouse to store religious books brought to the Islamic Ministry from abroad.

"There is a vacant space beside Kanbaasarani mosque. The Kanbaasarani mosque is a protected heritage mosque. There is space there we are not utilising for any purposes as of now. So I propose allotting the space to Islamic Ministry," Mayor Azim said.

Azam's proposal was passed unanimously by the 10 members present at the meeting.
