Mother who abandoned baby detained till end of trial

The woman who was arrested in connection to the abandoned newborn baby who was discovered dead at AA. Dhigurah on Sunday morning has been remanded in custody pending trial.

A newborn baby was found dead, abandoned in a bag around 09:20 am yesterday. Police said the child was found dead.

The child's mother was arrested early last night. She was arrested while on her way to Velana International Airport.

Police said in a statement today that the Sri Lankan woman was produced before the Criminal Court for a decision on her custody.
