Criminal Court orders house arrest for the men who attacked MP Shareef

Criminal Court has ordered house arrest for the four people arrested in connection with the attack on Maradhoo MP Ibrahim Shareef.

In a tweet, the police said the four men were arrested following a court order, including a 27-year-old Maldivian man and three 24-year-old Maldivian men. The first three arrested were remanded in Police custody for 60 days by a local Court on Monday.

MP Shareef was attacked on Saturday while he was in Manhattan during the second round of voting, leaving him with a black eye and visible injuries on his nose.

In addition to MP Shareef, Feydhoo MP Mohamed Nihad was also attacked by a mob on the same day. No arrests have been made yet.
