Maumoon: Every Maldivian is responsible for protecting and preserving the Dhivehi language

Former President, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has said that protecting and preserving the Dhivehi Language is a responsibility on every Maldivian.

He made the statement via Twitter on the occasion of the Dhivehi Language Day being celebrated today and said that the Dhivehi language is a proud one.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih too sent a special commemorative message on the occasion stating that the Dhivehi language is the fundamental piece to the unity of the community and called for more frequent use of the language.
