A total of 133 people has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours raising the total number of cases in the Maldives to 19,479.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) has said from 6 p.m. yesterday to 6 p.m. today, 117 people tested positive for COVID-19 from the Male’ Area along with four people from the atolls and 12 people from the resorts in operation.
There has been a spike in daily COVID cases since last week the daily figures above 100 despite the low number of cases in December 2020.
Meanwhile, HPA reported that 167 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours raising the total number of recoveries in the country to 17,002 with another 2,410 people still in treatment.
Statistics from the HPA also show that there are 162 people being treated at hospitals.
So far, there have been 60 COVID-related fatalities in the Maldives that includes 53 locals, six Bangladeshi nationals and Philippine national.
