Dr. Ali Latheef: Low risk for ambulance drivers involved in transporting the patient who died today

Dr. Ali Latheef has said that the ambulance drivers that transported the COVID-19 patient who later died today have a very low risk of infection.

Speaking at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) press conference, Dr. Ali Latheef said that the ambulance driver was wearing gloves and mask hence reducing risks.

He said that the illness is spread through particles while coughing or speaking and so with the safety measures taken by the driver of the ambulance that took the 83-year-old to the hospital, they do not believe the driver is at risk.

Dr. Latheef said that if a patient is transferred to the hospital from a residence under quarantine in connection to COVID-19, doctors and staff will be taking protective measures during treatment.
